Brokers and Auctions

Business Brokers
There are a range of business brokers, some who specialise in specific market sectors. They will typically charge an initial fee for preparing a brochure-type document that they can use when marketing your business to specific clients. Business brokers maintain databases of interested purchasers, so they may be a way to a company sale. Most contracts also include paying over a percentage of the the final selling price.
Selling at Auction
Selling your business through auction may improve the price if there are several interested parties, although this is not such good news for a buyer. Also, it gives the seller more control over how due diligence is carried out, the timings involved and the drafting of documents.
However, costs to sell are generally higher with some disruption to management and business operations. If there is not sufficient interest and the business fails to sell, the process is public and may affect your ability to sell in future.
